Nioxin Recharging Complex Review

Comprehensive, but lacking formulation

What is Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex?:

Nioxin is a daily supplement that claims to promote healthy hair, skin, and nails.

Nioxin Ingredients:

Nioxin Recharging Complex Ingredients

Vitamin A is needed by the retina of the eyes for color recognition and sight under low-light conditions.

Vitamin C is important in wound-healing and preventing bleeding in capillaries. It is most known to prevent scurvy.

Vitamin D3 or CHOLECALCIFEROL is important for gene expression and is produced in the skin when exposed to light. Vitamin D3 deficiency has been implicated in 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and more.

Vitamin B1 deficiency effects all organ systems and can lead to fatigue of the eyes and neurodegeneration.

Vitamin B3 is one of the essential 40-80 vitamins. Deficiency slows down metabolism. High doses can reverse artherosclerosis

Vitamin B6 in important in aspects of macronutrient metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, histamine synthesis, hemoglobin synthesis and function and gene expression. Deficiency results in various skin conditions and neurological symptoms of confusion, sleepiness, and damage to the peripheral nervous system.

While it has a variety of vitamins and minerals, the only ingredients that address excess DHT levels are: stinging nettle, pygeum, saw palmetto, and the soy phytosterol complex. Unfortunately the daily dosage is very low.

Oats contain silicon, saponins, gluten, albumen, protein, carbohydrates, minerals, gum, flavonoids, alkaloids, and glycosides which provide hair follicles with nutrients.

Wild yam, sarsparilla, and saw palmetto help to balance out hormonal levels to promote hair growth.

Ubiquinone is used in cellular metabolic processes.

To combat DHT levels that cause hair loss, a supplement should have high levels of DHT-blocking ingredients such as saw palmetto and phytosterols.

Does Nioxin Work?:

A Bottle of Nioxin Recharging Complex

We've gone over why hair loss happens and what can be done to stop DHT from causing it. Nioxin has the ingredients that will inhibit the production of DHT preventing DHT from binding to the hair follicles' androgen receptors. However, it has a low dosage of saw palmetto powder and beta-sitosterol.

Nioxin has an array of ingredients that aid hair growth and hormonal balance, as well as some random ingredients that have little to do with hair growth. The most important ingredients, the wild yam, sarsaparilla, and saw palmetto are not extracts but unrefined powders.

The daily dose of Nioxin's proprietary blend is only 235 mg. Compare that to Hairomega's 1002mg dose of various plant, herb, and mushroom extracts or even DHT Blocker-Hair Regrowth's 910mg dose.

Is Nioxin Safe?

A reader recently alerted us to the issue of food dyes and colorings in supplements. Nioxin uses titanium dioxide which has been shown to be carcinogenic (cancer-causing). [Source 1] It also has FD&C Yellow which, can stimulate a variety of immunologic responses including: anxiety, migraines, clinical depression, blurred vision, itching, general weakness, heatwaves, feeling of suffocation, purple skin patches, and sleep disturbance. [Source 2] In light of this information, we can no longer recommend Nioxin.

Price:

About $17 a bottle which is a 30-day supply.

Overall Rating:

/

Although Nioxin will work, it won't be as effective as a more comprehensive or stronger product like Hairomega. The use of food coloring and dyes is also concerning.
